“It's a great joy to bring a Black-owned, creative business to the home of the Harlem Renaissance. The space, its light and its ancestry elevate my work and me.”
Kosibah is a Black-owned couture house in the heart of Harlem. Yemi founded it in London in 1991, brought it to New York in 2016 and, in 2025, brought it back to Harlem, to this house.
Couture of the old school deserves a setting as grand as the gowns it creates. The salon is in a brownstone built one hundred and thirty years ago: carved oak, high plaster ceilings and tall windows, the kind of room where couture has always been shown.
The rooms
Where your gown begins.

One hundred and thirty years of built heritage, now home to thirty-five years of couture.

Your visit
What to expect at your first consultation.
A private hour
Just you and Yemi. Bring your date, your venue and whatever has caught your eye. Leave with a clear idea of your dream gown.
Who to bring
Keep it small and intimate: a bridesmaid (we do bridesmaids' dresses too), a close friend, or your mother. Five people at most, so the hour stays yours. Bring the shoes you will wear, or a pair of the same height, so the length is measured right.
When
The first consultation is complimentary. Evenings and weekends are available, and Zoom if you are further away.
